Twinkler Test Block ~ Jelly Roll Quilt from Podunk Pretties

Oh how you sparkle and oh how you shine!  So simple and sweet.  She's a little wonky but once in the quilt no one will ever know.  I knew this would be the case for these blocks since I decided not to starch the fabrics.  Starching jelly roll strips can cause shrinkage and waviness during the pressing of the fabric strips.  Not a chance I was willing to take.

Another thing I did to safeguard against  inaccuracy was to layout my block on the mini design board and mark the diagonal stitch lines for the stitch and flip method ...

First Quilt Block 2024 from Life in the Scrapatch

 


My first quilt block for 2024 is done!

This is block one of sixteen for the 

Corinne & Cecile 2024 QAL Challenge

which I introduced on my Saturday post.


My fabric choices took a curve in the journey

when it came time for cutting.

I may still use some of the original choice fabrics,

but I have decided to use this blue background and white and black print

for the bee wings.  The rest of the bee blocks will be scrappy gray and yellow prints.

All these fabrics are from my stash.

This is one of my quilt block patterns and I named it, Pin Wheel Around.  I took 2- five inch Charm packs and these quilt blocks. I don't over think quit fabric colors much...a light, a dark color. I like the idea of the sewing recently, cut, grab, sew! Just the way I've been lately. the gray and orange.

I wanted to make a block with a large purple triangle to add movement to my quilt and extend the purple from the bat blocks and the orange from the pumpkin blocks into the outer block border.

I researched free witch hat blocks online and did not find one that worked, 

so I designed my own block.
